{ Floral Care }

Ensuring the longevity of your arrangement is as easy as remembering a few general principles.

  • Position your flowers in a cool spot, out of direct sunlight. Even after they have been brought inside, flowers will continue to search for the sun & its warmth - heat will cause them to open faster.

  • Bacteria are the #1 enemy of cut flowers. Keeping the water in your arrangement as fresh as possible will keep your flowers looking pristine.

  • Certain flowers are prone to fading faster than others. Flowers with delicate petals or other tender varieties may look tattered long before your arrangement is done. To remove these blooms, you can either pull the stem out of the vase, or trim off the head with sharp, clean scissors.

  • Top up water in the vase regularly. For a transparent vessel, refill whenever the water falls below the middle of the vase; for opaque vessels, check regularly & refill every few days.

  • After a week, your arrangement may need a deeper refresh. Placing your arrangement into a large sink, position the head of the faucet near the rim of the vase & begin running cool water. Allow the faucet to run until the water coming out of the vase is clear. Pour off a little excess water & enjoy.

  • Your arrangement has been constructed with sustainable, reusable mechanics like chicken wire, flower frogs, or a design “cushion.” The flowers in your arrangement are biodegradable & compostable, but these components are not.

  • Mechanics can be cleaned & reused, either for your own designs or for future orders from The Botanist Floral Co.

  • Vases are reusable; glass vessels are dishwasher safe, glazed stoneware may be hand washed with hot water, Artist Vessels should be gently hand-washed with warm water.

With a little care, you should be able to enjoy the beauty & magic of your arrangement for a week or more.
